Meet Your Instructor

Aloha, I'm Greg, founder of Surf Maui Now.

For more than 15 years, I've dedicated my life to surfing, ocean education, and helping people build confidence in the water. Throughout my career, I've taught thousands of surf lessons to students of all ages and experience levels, from complete beginners catching their first wave to surfers looking to refine their skills.

My teaching journey has taken me from the beaches of New Jersey, South Carolina, and California to the world-class waves of Maui, where I've spent over seven years sharing my passion for surfing and the ocean. What I enjoy most is helping people feel comfortable, safe, and connected to the ocean while creating an experience they'll remember long after their vacation ends.

In addition to surf instruction, I studied oceanography and worked for UH on Maui. This background gives me a deeper understanding of ocean conditions, wave dynamics, marine ecosystems, and water safety that I bring into every lesson. I believe that learning to surf is about more than standing on a board—it's about understanding and respecting the ocean.

Safety is at the heart of everything I do. As a certified Wilderness First Responder, I am trained to assess and respond to emergencies in remote and dynamic environments, providing an added layer of confidence and professionalism for my students.

Whether you're stepping onto a surfboard for the very first time or looking to take your surfing to the next level, my goal is simple: provide personalized instruction, create a safe and supportive environment, and help you experience the joy of surfing in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
